How exactly do the RGB LED lighting and companion mobile app work?
Weatherproof digital LED arrays connect via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), enabling selection from 17 million colors and dynamic lighting sequences through the Sled-X companion app on iOS and Android. The app is optional — out of the box, Sled-X defaults to a preset glow mode with no setup required.
Can Sled-X be used during warmer months outside of winter?
Yes. After winter, Sled-X transforms into a sleek ambient sculpture for the bedroom or living room, reacting dynamically to ambient sounds and music via its built-in sound-reactive mode. It is designed to earn its place year-round — not just on the slope.
What age is Sled-X designed for?
Sled-X is designed for teens and adults who want more from their time on the slope — more speed, more visibility, more engineering. It is not a toy. Younger riders should always be supervised by an adult.
What is the rider weight capacity?
The Sled-X frame is engineered to support adult riders. The Makrolon® polycarbonate tube construction — 60mm diameter, 5mm wall thickness — provides substantial structural reserve under static load. Full dynamic load certification is currently in progress ahead of our first production run, and verified specifications will be published upon completion.
How long does the battery last on a single charge?
The USB-C rechargeable battery pack is designed to power the LED system through a full day of winter activity — approximately 8 hours at standard brightness in temperatures down to -20°C. Charging from empty to full takes under 2 hours via any standard USB-C power source.
Is Sled-X waterproof and safe to use in heavy snow?
Yes. All electronic components — the battery pack, smart controller board, and LED connectors — are fully enclosed within weatherproofed housings rated for wet and snowy conditions. The polycarbonate frame itself is inherently water-resistant and will not absorb moisture, warp, or corrode over time.
How does Sled-X fold, and how compact does it get?
The patented folding mechanism collapses the full chassis into a slim flat profile in seconds, with no tools and no loose parts. The folded sled fits comfortably in a car trunk alongside ski and snowboard equipment. The pivot mechanism is engineered to withstand thousands of fold cycles without wear.
What is Sled-X made of, and why Makrolon®?
The shell is made from Makrolon® polycarbonate by Covestro — the same material used in aerospace canopies and medical equipment. It retains full structural integrity at temperatures as low as -40°C and won't crack, splinter, or deform on impact. Its optical clarity is what makes the LED illumination so visually striking, with light diffusing evenly across the entire frame.
How does the companion app work, and do I need it to use Sled-X?
The Sled-X companion app connects to the sled via Bluetooth Low Energy and lets you select from 17 million RGB colors, set dynamic lighting sequences, and adjust animation speed. The app is entirely optional — Sled-X works straight out of the box without it.
